BTW, for those unfamiliar with blogs... the new one is always at the top so if you're reading this one first... STOP and scroll down and start with the second one which is actually the first!
On the exercise front yesterday was good. One whole hour of step aerobics, and blimey don't my legs know it this morning. Everything else went fairly badly though and after having a good day (my easter egg from Mum remained hidden) I ended up eating chocolate (bye bye easter me to you bear (thanks Mum)) just before I went to bed which we all know is the worst thing in the world to do!
However although I messed up yesterday and had a fairly inauspicious start to this miracle diet, i'm still here! I weigh exactly the same today as i did yesterday, which is better than having gained anything, and I started this morning, despite having very little sleep, with 30 minutes of step and a slim-fast! Yay me!
So slip up behind me I face today tired, achy and positive!

First-don't weigh yourself every day. You won't be able to tell any difference and it's soul destroying anyway! Once a week will be fine. The 2lb a week rule doesn't matter if you've got more than a stone or two to lose. In my first week at 'Slimming World', years ago, I lost 8lbs in the first week, simply by cutting out all the rubbish I didn't realise I'd been eating. The trouble is that, after the first few weeks when the weight will drop off you, you'll get a levelling off period where it goes very slowly. This is where you'll need your very considerable strength of mind Maris, because believe me, it will kick start again and in no time you'll be able to fit onto that new pair of jeans you've seen! Secondly-ditch the Slimfasts. Learn to eat again, but in a different way. Slimfasts may be ok to start with and convenient but you will need to continue your 'way of life eating' (not diet!) way past the 'Hurrah, I've lost 7stone!' celebration. Get conditioned to a new way of eating and you may-at a later point- be able to treat yourself with chocolate now and again. BUT NOT NOW!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the most confident person I know and if this weight problem has dented that confidence, then you have to have the willpower to see it through. We're all behind you-may even join you! So get on with it -AND NO MORE EXCUSES!!

ps. I'm a nice person really!
Hey Sue, thanks for the support! I'm with you on everything except the ditching of slimfast! Spoke to my "fat club" nurse about it a couple of years ago and they're a great way of making sure you get all the vitamins etc that you need and breaking the addiction to solid food. Plus Mum's bought me shed loads of them! LOL.
ReplyDeleteOoh, plus the weighing everyday happens with the wii fit which is how i'm tracking it. I figure if I have put some on... as i will tomorrow... it'll be good motivation. I need to learn to associate what i put in my body with the weight or i'll just kid myself that it won't matter. The good thing about wii fit is that it weighs you in BMI not weight. So even if you've lost .1 of a pound you can see it. Helpful for times when you seem to be plateau-ing completely!
Terrible day today, so off to bed now and hoping to get up tomorrow with my willpower in tact again.
